Cornerstone Academy uses an admissions procedure that resembles the application process used in many other private schools and colleges. The current procedure allows the school to more accurately identify and admit students from families who have clearly expressed convictions that are similar to the school’s regarding the education of children.
The selection and make-up of the school’s student body is second only to staff selection in the impact it has upon the school’s mission. The family-like atmosphere Cornerstone Academy seeks to foster and currently enjoys is due in great measure to the similarity of biblical convictions and principles taught and lived out in many of the homes of our students. As the Lord blesses us with growth and change, we want to do all we can to maintain and build up that atmosphere.
A student’s academic achievements will be considered in the application process only for grade placement, not as the primary determinant for acceptance. Again, we are seeking to enroll those students who, because of their own families’ priorities, will most benefit from what Cornerstone Academy can offer them. Admission will be at the sole discretion of the school board or its representative.
The Enrollment Process: Step by Step
STEP ONE: Attend an Open House
Open Houses are held in January or February and are a great first step toward involvement in any Cornerstone Academy program. Call the office or see the Cornerstone Academy calendar for meeting dates.
STEP TWO: Complete Application & Pay New Student Application Fee
Complete and return the New Student Application available from the office or on our website along with the applicable new student application fees. All application fees are non-refundable.
STEP THREE: Complete Admission Testing
An academic evaluation will be necessary for students entering Grades 3 and higher.
STEP FOUR: Family Interview
A representative from our school office will call to set up a time for your 45-minute on-campus family interview. We’d like to meet your entire family and have you meet us!
STEP FIVE: Meet with our Guidance Counselor
If your student is entering grades 9-12, the Guidance Counselor will call to schedule a meeting to write a four-year graduation plan following the family interview. This meeting does not guarantee acceptance.
Notification of Acceptance is issued after Step Five.
STEP SIX: Start Tuition Payments
If it is on or after June 1st, it’s time to begin paying tuition for the coming school year. Call the Business Operations Director or consult the Next Steps information form and Smart Tuition enrollment form for your payment amounts and options.
STEP SEVEN: Submit Medical Forms
Make sure your student’s immunizations are up-to-date and all necessary medical forms are turned in to the school office prior to your student starting school. We will need the original immunization and physical form.
STEP EIGHT: Order School Supplies and Uniforms
Get a school supply list and uniform information from the website to make your purchases.
STEP NINE: Attend Back-To-School Night
Back-to-School Night is a vital, mandatory step in attending Cornerstone Academy and a time of preparation for the new school year.
STEP TEN: Take Required CPEUs (Cornerstone Parent Educational Units)
Parents have to complete the required Worldview and Classical Education courses within two years of enrolling. Grammar parents must also attend Grammar 101. Refer to the calendar for course dates.
